[Karkat wakes up unable to shake the memory of his dream. He has nightmares regularly, a combination of sleeping without a recuperacoon and everything he's been through since he began playing Sgrub. But something about this one felt more real and vivid and awful, and he remembers it more clearly.
But he wakes ordinarily, only to watch the news and hear his own name, among others, listed. He remembers. She told him she would erase his existence, and he said yes. That memory combined with the news spooks him; Mayfield is clearly doing something, and he doesn't know what to think. So when the television shuts off, he'll go looking for his housemates to try to calm his nerves.]
[Phone, later]
All right, this is Karkat. No, guess what, this is actually Karkat. I'm here. You can choose to believe me or not.
Is anyone else who supposedly disappeared still here? Let's discuss this latest Mayfield fuckstorm like the rational conversationalists I know we all aren't.

And I especially need to talk to all of you. Now. Don't give me any shit about whether or not I'm the real Karkat. If you are here, answer me now.
I can't believe a single one of you complete drooling panrotted fucking assholes.

You.

There has to be a way to convince them.

It's just a little bit of a pan fuck when certain people in your life can't remember you.

I mean we could keep talking. If you can think of something else to talk about other than the fact that we don't exist in the eyes of the entire town.

Sure, if only because if I have to spend all day talking to nothing but my shitsponge friends, I'm just going to scream and scream until my squack blister shrivels like a beefgrub left in the sun.
I don't know, what is an unloaded subject of conversation to you, these things are impossible to predict here. I'll ask you if you like movies, and you'll tell me that movies killed your lusus or you're from a uselessly primitive period of human history or something.

...Actually it's the second option, but I've been to a couple movies here and it seemed really cool. The whole technology, I mean. The movies themselves were pretty neat, too.

What kind of movies, then? Or are you just generally gaping in awe of the technology?

Uh... well I've kind of liked all of the ones I've seen so far. I mean yeah the technology is really cool, but I like how it's just a really interesting way to tell a story, I guess. There was this one where a detective had to help a woman, but she wouldn't tell him what she was looking for or why until his partner had already been killed and... I dunno, it was just really cool.
