[Well, Karkat intended to go to the Post Office as soon as the zombie threat was finished. But early the next morning, he was forced to go to school instead, so it's not until afterward that he's able to make it.

Finally, he manages to make it back to his hive with an unwieldy recuperacoon, only to be greeted by Jade's drone, even though she was fine just earlier that day. Between being stuck as a human again and finding out about that, he's in a bad mood, so he'll just be sitting on the couch channel flipping next to the recuperacoon and judging everything on TV.]

Guess what? I'm human again. Karkat, really? You're human? Wow, I didn't recognize you at all! How'd that happen? When are you going back to normal? What do you look like now? Wait, we've never met, but you're were a species other than human in the first place?

There, that's all out of the way. We can now returned to your regularly scheduled not giving a shit about this. Anyone who does decide to bother me about this subject will be ignored in the iciest fashion possible.

In much more important but equally beyond our ability to do anything about news, Harley is apparently panscrubbed. No, I don't know why or how long she'll be gone for.

Wow. Okay. I'm going to sound like such a hypocrite on this one, but at least hear me out. I just don't want it to be one of those things that comes up later and it seems like there was a big secret when there wasn't.

But anyway, during the bowling thing, Jade kind of got a little drunk on human intoxificants because apparently everyone was making terrible choices that night, and after she got drunk, she tried to kiss me.

[Terezi freezes. she's trying to hear him out, but that... well.]

She tried to do what?

...Yeah. But, you know, I know you wouldn't have kissed him if you weren't drinking that stuff. It's the same with her, she really didn't mean anything by it.

Did she try, or did she actually- [Terezi sputters, sitting up straighter.] Wait, 'it's the same'? How is it the same? You were so mad at me but the whole time you knew you had let Jade kiss you?

[she's not angry at him, but she does look pretty upset, although she is trying not to let it show.]

I didn't let her. That's exactly the point! She kissed me and I pushed her off right away and said I didn't want to kiss her.

I know I'm not completely blameless and yeah, it wasn't fair of me to be so angry and never mention that, but don't being kissed by someone and actually kissing someone back seem like two different things to you?

What I'm having trouble grasping is the fact that I spent two weeks beating myself up about it thinking I was the worst bulge-knocking excuse for a m- [she hesitates] -for a person, and it was all my fault, and you didn't even tell me that much! Were you that ready to jump to conclusions? Jegus, if you got that Jade was out of her sponge right away, then-

[her head droops a little.] Then why didn't you believe me?

[Oh. He hadn't even thought about that.]

I guess I just thought...even if I was really out of my sponge, I didn't think I'd do that to you. Jade doesn't owe anyone not going around kissing whoever she wants. But I owe you that. I thought I owed you that and I thought you owed that to me.

I guess that's the thing. [she gnaws at her lower lip.] I wasn't sure if I did owe it to you. You've never told me anything like that before. I never really could get what was going through your head half the time. Sometimes you're really transparent, then the rest of the time trying to read you is as dense as the concrete your dumb grey font smells like.

[she seems, almost, a little hopeful.] ...Do you really mean that? That... we owe each other that?

[For a long time he had thought she didn't care about whether he felt like she wouldn't get involved with someone else. But it hadn't occurred to him to think she might not know if it was okay with him, even if he knows they never talked about it.]

Well, yes. Shit...I wouldn't be doing all of this with you if I didn't want it to mean something.

[that's what she wanted to hear, and she smiles a little. it's some kind of confirmation, right?]

Well, I meant it. That you're the only one I want to kiss. [she means that, too; Terezi has never really been one for relationships, even friendships, but she is sincere when it comes to this.]

And you are for me too.

I always make a mess out of everything and I don't want to make a mess out of this.

[she smiles slightly.]

So 'this' is an official and real thing, then? [of course it is, she thinks, it's been like that for a while, but... but she just wants to hear it.] It is an official flushed kind of thing?

Yeah! That's what I-... [bluh just say it, she tells herself] That's what I want it to be. [okay, she is pretty much ecstatic about this, but she's got to play it off and be cool about it. because Terezi knows coolness is a delicate thing and she needs to be cool enough for the both of them because tragically Karkat doesn't care about coolness.]

...Soooo I can go ahead and tell people even though I think everyone already knew?

I don't see why it's anyone's business or why you would want to tell them.

[Well, actually, he feels awkward and a little embarrassed and isn't sure how comfortable he'll be if he has to be open about it with everyone.

But she also said she really wants to have this with him, and he's happy about that, so he can't say no.]

So do you still want to do the human date thing, then?

Duuuurrr. [she says that a little quickly.] It'll be fun! Right? You are an expert on that shit, I am sure you have studied every single possible route of comedic hijinks that could happen through your movies that all have the same dumb theme. It will be like in that movie where we go on a date except we go to a restaurant and steal the reservation for another couple but then they turn out to be notorious criminals and then we are pursued across the city and the whole time we are bemoaning the fact that we stole the reservation in the first place.

[PAUSE] Are human dates always that exciting?

Actually, they usually involve uncomfortable misunderstandings and physical comedy. Usually someone winds up going to the hospital with a food allergy or something catches on fire.

And you're into that stuff? [she says it the same way someone might say 'you're into consensual physical relationships with chewed food?']

That's not what I actually want to happen! That's what happens in movies, but it's only to create an obstacle and show that they protagonists are capable of overcoming difficult situations and the appeal is in each other rather than because the date was perfect.

But I think we can consider apocalyptic destruction of our planet to have suitably covered the wacky hi-jinx standard set by my dumb movies.

...Oh. [he's right.....] I guess we have overcome some pretty difficult stuff. [UNDERSTATEMENT...] So if there's no crazy adventures, what's left over? Constant makeouts?

Just the part where they've figured things out and just do things that are normal and be normal, I guess.
