[After his conversation/ambiguous break up with Terezi, Karkat heads back to his own hive. He slams the door to his respite block, locks it, and doesn't come out or let anyone in until his lusus comes up to check on him and makes him move the dresser away from his door.

After that, if you want to come in and find him, he's sitting on his bed eating ice cream and watching troll Hitch on his husktop with Crabdad.]

[ Jade is somewhat hesitant about entering, but this might be her only chance before he barricades the door again.

[well she's been feeling pretty terrible about things but she's managed to drag herself out of her little pity party and *siiiiignnn*-ing after remembering that she's left some of her things over at fuckass hive.

damn it.

she considers dialling the phone and asking for Jade, but what if Karkat picks up instead? and she can't ask Gamzee to do it, he'll just forget.

in the end she decides that the best way to do this is to- naturally- sneak in through Jade's bedroom window and wait for the girl there.

this is a terrible idea, but it doesn't stop her from doing it, like many other terrible ideas Terezi tends to have scattered among her genius.

but being blind and addicted to colors doesn't make climbing very easy. the side of the house smells absolutely delicious and she's losing concentration as she tries to scramble up to Jade's bedroom window. it takes her a good fifteen minutes to get there, and when she does, she knocks on the glass. if Jade doesn't answer, she'll just... throw a rock idk.]

I've only seen two people switch houses. One was droned in my house for ages, then woke up undroned in the other house... and the other one just got moved when he turned 18 to be a dad. ♪

[ Well, this is a surprise, she hasn't heard from him since she dropped off the sedatives months ago. Likely their schedules have been off. She can't help the "counselor" voice when she responds. ] When the town decides to switch us, that's when we move.

But as long as you sleep in your assigned building every three nights, you can avoid the house. Otherwise you'll be droned. I'm not quite sure of the equation, but I have had reports that the more often you skip that third day, the longer you're droned after.

[ Now Ilsa sounds a little worried. Being a troll, Karkat might not recognize the tone of an adult human concerned about the safety of a youngster.
